League rules & reminders regarding safety, enjoyment, sportsmanship & subbing.
Category 1 / Player Safety
General Player Protection
• Be aware and play to the level of the opposing player. • NO SLIDE TACKLING. Including no feet-first forward slides by the keeper in the vicinity of another player.
Keeper Safety
• Offensive players may NOT challenge the keeper if he/she has legitimately called for the ball and is likely to contact the ball before or at the same time as offensive opponent. • Keeper should alert the opponent of his/her immediate presence by calling for the ball loudly & clearly; failure to do so may result in the opposing team being granted a corner kick. • Special care should be taken by offensive players to avoid contact if the keeper is charging the ball or has left his/her feet. • In the event of a true 50/50 challenge between an attacking player and keeper, the attacking player shall give way to the keeper.
High Kicks
No player may break the plane of their waist when kicking the ball, regardless of whether or not an opposing player is in the vicinity of the play.
Air balls
No player (including the keeper) may make a play with any body part below their waist once they leave their feet and jump for the ball.
Ground balls
No kicking at the ball if you are on the ground.

Category 2 / Addressing Fouls
Calling your own fouls
EBOTS players call their own fouls – not perceived fouls on other players. If you make a call, do so loudly and clearly. When you hear a call, respect it. Stop the play, let the kick be taken, and let it go. Make calls sparingly; only if there is intention or real advantage gained and only when you are involved in the play. Try to play on whenever possible and don’t make calls for others when you are not involved. Fouls are subjective. What is a foul to one person is not a foul to another. Always respect the call. DO NOT ARGUE.
Hand balls
Only when an arm is outstretched or intentional. No calls when the arm is in next to the body. if it would have hit the body regardless of where the arm is, then it’s not a handball. Generally it is arm-to-ball and not the other way around. Don’t call it if the player couldn’t have helped it and gains no advantage. Any handball penalties inside the box are a corner kick.
Offsides
Double check before calling it, and call it only if it is clear (not just half a step). Make sure you know where all your other defenders are first, and make sure you know where the offending player was when the ball was played.
Fouls in penalty area
Any fouls committed within the penalty box will result in an indirect kick at the 18 yard line. NO PENALTY KICKS. Any handball penalties inside the box are a corner kick.

Category 3 / Sportsmanship
Communicating an issue
If you feel a player is being problematic, notify your captain and let him/her handle it, rather than getting into it with the player and potentially getting yourself into trouble. If you feel you are excessively upset about a situation or if your captain asks, please step off the field of play. If you are unable to self-regulate your temper, your captain may insist that you step off the field until you can regain composure.
Fair challenges
Match your challenge to the player. Don’t be overly aggressive or make contact with people who are not skilled or are clearly not comfortable with that kind of play. Give beginners a touch on the ball and allow them some space to make a play.
Fun > Competition
Since our motto is fun over competition, if you are involved in an overly lopsided game, please take steps to ensure both teams can continue to enjoy the game ( i.e. switch positions within your own team, offer to switch players with the other team, pass the ball around more, let some players have time on the ball, etc.).

Category 4 / Subbing
Sharing time
Share playing time with your teammates. We ask that all players be considerate (i.e. mindful of how long you have been out on the field vs. everybody else) BUT also proactive (i.e. if you feel you’ve been on the sidelines too long, call somebody (by name) out). We encourage the captains to monitor this, but at the end of the day it is up to each individual to ensure they are getting enough time out on the field.
Answering sub calls
When answering sub calls, please answer only one call at a time, or let the second team know that you already responded to a prior call. You should limit your subbing in to one game only, unless a captain has put out multiple calls and is struggling to find players. Being considerate in this regard will allow more bye team members to play as subs.
RSVP
Please RSVP for games as early as you can! In the interest of having a full squad, you may be replaced by a sub if you do not indicate your attendance by the Thursday prior to the game.
